Nearly 180 years of craftsmanship, innovation, and a passion for bringing the finest home textiles to British homes.
Deyongs is one of the United Kingdom's oldest and most respected names in home textiles. For nearly 180 years, the Deyong family has been at the forefront of the British textile trade, building a reputation for quality, innovation, and integrity that spans seven generations.
What began as a small family enterprise in Victorian London has grown into a business that sources and supplies premium towels, bedding, throws, and home furnishings to retailers and consumers across the country and beyond.
Victorian Beginnings
The Deyong family's roots in the textile trade date back to 1846, when Simon Deyong founded the business in London during the early years of Queen Victoria's reign. At a time when the capital was the beating heart of British commerce and global trade, Simon established a textile merchant enterprise that would endure for nearly two centuries.
Operating from premises in London, the early generations of the Deyong family built a respected name dealing in quality household textiles. The company was formally incorporated as S & L Deyong Limited in 1939, by which time the family had been trading in textiles for almost a century. Successive generations expanded the range and reach of the company's products, always maintaining the founding family's commitment to quality and fair dealing.
Pioneering Global Sourcing
The 1960s marked a transformative chapter in the Deyongs story. Under the leadership of Sim and David Deyong, the company became one of the first British textile firms to look beyond traditional domestic and European suppliers.
At a time when the latest trends in textiles and household goods were emerging from the Far East, Sim and David saw an opportunity. They travelled to Hong Kong, then a hub for cutting-edge textile manufacturing, and forged partnerships with factories producing innovative designs and high-quality fabrics.
Most significantly, they pioneered the import of towels and home textiles from India, recognising the exceptional quality of Indian cotton and the skill of its weavers. This was a bold move in an era when few British companies had established direct sourcing relationships with Indian manufacturers. These early partnerships laid the foundation for what would become one of Deyongs' greatest strengths: a deep, trusted network of the world's finest mills.
Our Journey Through Time
Simon Deyong founds a textile trading business in London, laying the foundations for nearly two centuries of expertise in home textiles.
Successive generations build the Deyong name into a respected presence among London's wholesale and retail textile merchants.
After nearly a century of trading, the business is formally incorporated as S & L Deyong Limited, marking a new chapter of growth and professionalisation.
Sim and David Deyong become among the first in Britain to import towels from India and source textiles from Hong Kong, transforming the company's global reach.
The company moves from London to Watford as the business grows, before establishing its headquarters in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, where it remains today.
Daniel and Oliver Deyong are appointed directors, beginning the seventh generation of family leadership. They bring fresh energy while honouring the company's heritage.
Under Michael Deyong's continued guidance, the sourcing network expands to include premium mills across Europe, South America, and beyond. New brands are developed to serve different market segments.
Now operating across 15+ countries, Deyongs combines nearly 180 years of expertise with direct-to-consumer retail, ethical sourcing, and a commitment to sustainable practices.
Expanding the Legacy
Michael Deyong built on the international foundations laid by Sim and David, significantly expanding the company's global sourcing network. He developed partnerships with leading manufacturers in Portugal, Turkey, Egypt, and Pakistan, alongside the long-established Indian and Far Eastern suppliers.
Many of these factory relationships have endured for decades, built on mutual trust and shared standards. Michael's approach ensured that every Deyongs product, whether a lightweight beach towel or a heavyweight luxury bath sheet, met the same rigorous quality benchmarks.
His work transformed Deyongs from a respected importer into a multi-brand home textiles business, supplying major high street retailers, department stores, and hospitality groups across the United Kingdom.
The Seventh Generation
Today, Deyongs is led by brothers Daniel and Oliver Deyong, the seventh generation of the family to run the business. Appointed as directors in 1997, their leadership blends the heritage and expertise accumulated over nearly 180 years with a fresh, forward-thinking approach to modern retail.
Under their direction, Deyongs has embraced direct-to-consumer retail, launched its own e-commerce platform, and invested in building brand identities that resonate with modern consumers. The company now operates across more than 15 countries, supplying leading retailers including major department stores and independent boutiques across the United Kingdom.
Daniel and Oliver continue to visit factories personally, maintaining the family tradition of hands-on involvement that has been a hallmark of the Deyong approach for seven generations.
Our Brand Family
Over the years, Deyongs has developed a portfolio of distinct brands, each with its own character and audience, united by the same commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
Sourcing the World's Finest
Nearly 180 years of textile expertise has given Deyongs an unrivalled understanding of global sourcing. We work directly with carefully selected mills and manufacturers across India, Pakistan, China, Turkey, Egypt, and Portugal, choosing each partner for their specialist skills and the quality of their output.
Our towels are predominantly sourced from India, where the combination of premium long-staple cotton and centuries of weaving tradition produces products of exceptional softness and durability. Our bed linen is sourced from Pakistan and Egypt, renowned for their fine cotton fibres.
Every factory in our supply chain holds independent ethical audit certification, and our production and technical teams maintain close, hands-on relationships with each supplier to ensure that standards are met consistently.
Our Home
From its origins in the City of London, the Deyong family business moved to Watford as the company outgrew its central London premises. Today, our headquarters is located at Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, positioned at the heart of the UK's logistics network and close to the company's roots in Greater London.
Our Hemel Hempstead office serves as the hub for design, sourcing, sales, and distribution, supporting our retail partners and direct customers across the United Kingdom and internationally.
